Now into the third year, we were back at Whitley Bay Hub for 2025

Generously supported by North Tyneside VODA’s Grow and Eat project, we were able to include a ‘Potato Day’ element to the event. An opportunity for growers to purchase their seed potatoes for the year, including disappearing and heirloom varieties. Potato Days go back hundreds of years so we were delighted to add another heritage element to the latest Seed Social swap.

We had the biggest selection of seeds to swap, share and purchase to date. The peas and beans flew out, as did the ever popular fruit bushes and unusual tubers - all locally grown.

Our friends at Northumberland Wildlife Trust joined us again for the day and we were delighted to welcome Seed Sovereignty for the first time too.

We had an amazing 500 people attend - some seasoned swappers, familiar faces and new visitors too. The day was filled with conversations, connections and sharing of tips and ideas.
