Seed Boxes

Following our first seed swap event in 2023, we had a small surplus of seeds to share. The first seed boxes were born! We sent a batch of seeds to our friends at Chopwell Bank Community Cafe and Earthlings Cafe in Newcastle city centre. Customers could help themselves to a packet or two - if they had a packet to swap, even better!

Thanks to funding from Newcastle Council’s Newcastle Fund in 2025, we distributed 1000 packets of seeds to local communities, events, places and spaces including Newcastle Libraries, Sister Shack Spring Market, Ouseburn Farm, Wild Roots Community Garden and Newcastle Food & Solidarity.

In early spring 2026 we shared surplus seeds within days of our Seed Swap event with the lovely people at Newcastle City Libraries as part of their environmentally themed community engagement work.
